Second Chance Ranch

In early 2008, I did some volunteer work for Second Chance Ranch for a school project. I ended raising a lot of funds for the rescue and I fell in love with the ranch’s cause. During that time I had been searching for a horse for over a year.  A few months later, Katie called me and told me she had the horse of my dreams. Days later, I went to SCR and immediately fell in love with “SnackBasket”. SnackBasket had raced until he was seven at Emerald Downs, ending up in the money more than half of the time. When his racing career was over, became a lead pony there. His owners then decided he needed a new job before he got too old. I adopted the bay gelding and I have renamed him “Just By Chance” (aka Chance) in honor of SCR and of the way I got him. We are currently competing in jumpers and eventing and he couldn’t be happier. He loves his new job and is always excited to show off to anyone who will watch. I couldn’t have been luckier to get a horse like him and I am so grateful toward Katie and the ranch for finding me my dream horse!
